Police investigating a house fire in Darlington say early enquiries suggest it wasn't a deliberate act.

A 7 year old girl remains in a critical condition after the blaze on Esk Road on Saturday - the fire service, the police and paramedics all attended the fire.

The girl was initially taken to James Cook University Hospital before being transferred to Newcastle's RVI. It's reported that she's in a critical but stable condition.

A 16 year old boys been released under investigation.
