Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information after a burglary at Tesco Extra on Trunk Road, South Bank.

The incident happened around 6:50pm on Sunday 21st November when four males attended the store on two motor scooters.

Two of the four suspects caused damage to the front windows and entered the store, jumped over the Kiosk counter and caused damage to the cigarette/tobacco display, putting a large quantity of stock into a distinctive large green bag.

A member of staff challenged the suspects, grabbing the bag and recovering the items stolen.

The four suspects then fled the scene on the scooters.

The two males who entered the store were wearing dark clothing, one with a black crash helmet and one with a white crash helmet which had yellow and blue markings.

Both suspects outside the store were wearing crash helmets and riding one black and one red scooter. They rode off in the direction of South Bank.

Anyone with information or any witnesses are asked to contact Detective Constable Dave Alcock from Redcar and Cleveland CID, on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 198571.

Officers would also appeal to anyone who may recognise the distinctive green bag to get in touch with them.

Independent charity Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111, or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
