Pint glass thrown at woman in Newton Aycliffe

A woman's been left need stitches after a pint glass was thrown off her head during a pub brawl in Newton Aycliffe.

Police were called at around 9pm on Saturday night (April 21) to reports of an assault outside of Cobblers Hall Pub in Newton Aycliffe.

It is believed an altercation took place in the outside seating area of the pub between a group of men and women.

The victim attempted to intervene and on doing so, a pint-size glass was thrown at her head causing serious injury.

The group made off towards Cobblers Hall Road and were seen by witnesses sitting inside of Olive Garden Takeaway. The suspects left prior to police arrival.

An ambulance was dispatched and the victim was taken to hospital where she required a number of stitches.
