New parking spaces open within "stone's throw'" of Yarm High Street
Thirty new long-stay spaces will be available from next week

Thirty new long-stay car parking spaces in Yarm will be available to residents and visitors alike from next week (Monday, November 14).
It is hoped the much-needed spaces, in a new pay and display car park off West Street, will help ease parking pressure in the town.
The project has come to fruition after Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council struck a deal to lease the site, previously occupied by the Arncliffe Buildings, for a 30-year period and then secured planning permission for the new facility.
An initial 30 spaces are available now, and a further 25 will be freed up in the new year once additional work on boundary walls has been completed. The need for this extra work only became apparent when the site was cleared.
Councillor Mike Smith, the Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said:
“The new spaces come at a good time for residents, businesses and visitors to Yarm in the run up to Christmas.
“We know people have been very keen for more long stay car parking in the town and we continue to work hard to create more much-needed parking options but we're very hopeful this new site, within a stone’s throw of the High Street, will have a really positive impact.
“As we've said before, we will do anything we can to support our town centres and high streets to be successful and we'll work positively with anyone who can help us achieve that.
“The landowner working with us and contributing significantly to the project through the demolition work and site clearance has helped get this project delivered.”
In line with other long stay parking provision in the town motorists will be charged £1.50 to park there for the day.
