Middlesbrough nightclub assault investigated

A 19-year old was taken to hospital after feeling a sharp pain in his back

Cleveland police are appealing for information after an alleged incident in a Middlesbrough night club.

A 19-year-old man was leaving The Empire in the town centre at around 2.10am on Sunday 1st May when he felt a sharp pain in his back from an unknown cause. Officers says it's NOT being treated as a spiking incident.

The man was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital where he remains in a poorly but stable condition.

Two 16-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of assault and are being questioned.

Inquiries are continuing and Middlesbrough CID would appeal for any witnesses or anyone else with information to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting Ref 072439.
