New Middlesbrough heart research facility to help improve survival chances
The facility was unveiled yesterday at The James Cook University Hospital
A new heart research facility in Middlesbrough is being welcomed by a woman who had a heart attack.
It is thought it will now help pave the way in tackling cardiovascular disease and increase the chances of survival of patients.
The space was unveiled yesterday at The James Cook University Hospital.
Christine Walton is from Nunthorpe and said: "I'm taking part in a research trial for a new drug. It's called Horizon. After a heart attack two years ago, I had a triple heart bypass and then I was asked to take part in the trial, which is a way of giving something back for all the help that I was given.
"You just couldn't put it into words from start to finish the whole treatment is and was amazing. I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for the whole team.
"It makes me feel just like I'm giving something back. I'd like other people that have been given the opportunity to do a research programme to do it. It's just so worth it."
