Access restricted to Teesside beach after suspected explosive device found
Police are warning people to stay away from the beach in Marske
Police are dealing with a report of a suspected explosive device spotted by a member of the public on the beach at Marske.
The item was described as visible in sand on the area of the beach in front of where Hummershill Lane meets Church Howle Crescent.
Officers are currently in the area and will be working with partners to arrange safe disposal of the item. Until that is completed they will be restricting access to the beach. This may be for some time today owing to the impact of tides.
Police are advising people not to take the path down to the beach from next to St Germain’s churchyard or the clifftop path further along.
They advise, as a precaution, that the public stay away from this area of the beach until further notice.
