Man who died in fatal collision in Middlesbrough is named by police
Malik Ameer Abbas, 27, was involved in the crash on Dixon's Bank
A Middlesbrough man who sadly died in a collision on Dixon's Bank in Middlesbrough at around 11:40pm on 29th March has been named as 27-year-old Malik Ameer Abbas.
Specialist officers are supporting his family and our thoughts are with them.
Malik was the driver of a Volkswagen Passat which was involved in a collision with a Mercedes C220. The 32-year-old driver of the Mercedes was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Prior to the collision officers had identified a Mercedes travelling at high speed on Marton Road which they attempted to stop. The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to this police activity, which is a mandatory referral.
Anyone with information on the collision or who saw the Mercedes prior to the incident is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
