A 35-year-old man has died after a collision in Eaglescliffe in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday 3rd March).

Police were called to Yarm Road near its junction with Ashville Avenue at 00.40am where the collision had taken place.

The man had sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital, but very sadly he was pronounced deceased this evening.

His family has been notified and is being supported by specially trained officers. All our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.

Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who saw a white Mercedes AMG travelling between Yarm High Street and the location of the collision in Eaglescliffe from just before half past midnight or anyone with information or doorbell, dashcam or CCTV from along the route to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number.
