A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man at Thornaby-On-Tees on Friday (15th May).

Police were called to reports of a man with serious injuries in a car on Trenchard Avenue around 2.20pm - he died at the scene.

The victim's been named as 40 year old James Stokoe from Thornaby whose family have paid tribute.

A statement released via Cleveland Police reads, "James was a much loved husband, father, son and son-in-law.

"He was a treasured friend to so many people.

"James was a wonderfully kind and gentle person.

"There are no words to express our sadness."
