Lottery joy for funded projects across the North East

Around £1.5 million from the Big Lottery Fund is on it's way to North East organisations.

Today’s funding will support local organisations to help improve their local communities and the lives of people most in need.

Eva Women’s Aid will receive £484,701 to support women escaping from domestic abuse or sexual violence in Redcar and Cleveland.

The organisation supports women aged 16 to 24 and the funding will enable the group to also include women up to 44. The support will include advice on solicitors, health providers, banking, financial institutions, benefits, housing, employability and identifying abusive behaviour.

Meanwhile, The Patchwork Project will get** **£367,300 to develop accessible group activities for children and young people in Benwell, Scotswood and Elswick areas of Newcastle to raise their confidence, self-esteem, mental health and wellbeing.

Durham Deafened Support (DDS) receives £360,587 to expand its services for people who have lost their hearing either by illness or injury, to help them take back control of their lives and be as independent as possible.

Today’s awards have been made through the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All and Reaching Communities programmes. Awards for All provides grants between £300 and £10,000 to voluntary and community organisations and Reaching Communities awards larger grants of £10,000 and above.
