An investigation into a suspected gas leak at Loftus Leisure Centre is underway.

Cleveland Fire Brigade were called out yesterday afternoon when the Centre was evacuated

A statement on the leisure centre Facebook page said

"Customer notice! Due to unforeseen circumstances the centre will be closed tonight which means there will be no swimming lessons. Sorry for any inconvenience."

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called around 3:10pm yesterday (15th Feb)

They treated 10 patients with breathing difficulties and transported six of them to hospital.

One of them was Shaun Lyon. He took to Facebook to live blog what was happening.

“I don’t know what to say, it was like something out of a movie, must have been something I inhaled, clothes off, showered, the lot”

Shaun posted several photos from the scene – you can see them below.
