Investigation launched in Middlesbrough after shooting
The incident happened on Murdock Road on Tuesday morning.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an incident this morning, Tuesday 4th July, on Murdock Road in Middlesbrough.
Police were called at around 8.55am to a report of an injured man. It is believed that four males, who had their faces covered, got out of a navy blue Volkswagen Golf which had distinctive silver wing mirrors before using baseball bats to attack the victim and damage a white Mercedes.
The man was then shot in the leg with what is believed to be a firearm.
The victim, aged in his forties, was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
At 10.08am officers discovered a navy Volkswagen Golf on fire in woods near to Four Lane Ends near Saltburn.
Detectives would firstly like to appeal to any witnesses who may have seen the incident itself, or seen the blue Volkswagen Golf with distinctive silver wing mirrors in the vicinity of Murdock Road or as it travelled to Four Lane Ends.
Anyone with dash cam footage of the vehicle is urged to get in touch.
Police would also appeal to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area of Four Lane Ends between the hours of 9am and 10am.

“We are in the very early stages of this inquiry, however, indications so far suggest that this was a targeted incident. There will be increased patrols in the area whilst the investigation continues and anyone with information is urged to contact police.”
