A group of more than 200 people has been moved-on by officers after Cleveland Police were called to an illegal rave last night (Saturday 4th July).

The event was happening in woodland close to Eston, near Middlesbrough in contravention of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

The police helicopter was also flown-in to assist.

Cleveland Police's Superintendent Emily Harrison said raves like this are, "unacceptable & won't be tolerated," she added they, "pose potential safety concerns and attending places an unnecessary burden on our NHS colleagues who have been working hard to keep us all safe.”

The force is also urging people not to attend such events and asking parents and guardians to check on the whereabouts of their children.
