Man arrested after entering Hemlington Children's Centre
Police say all staff and children immediately moved to the neighbouring school and there are no injuries
An investigation is underway, after a man got inside Hemlington Children's Centre and caused damage to the doors and windows.
Cleveland Police have been at the scene at a children's centre in Middlesbrough, after an unknown man entered the site and caused criminal damage to internal doors and windows.
Police were called to the scene at Cass House Road shortly after 3pm today, Friday 26th May, and a man was arrested within minutes.
All children and staff had immediately gone to the neighbouring school and all are safe, unharmed and accounted for, with no reports of anyone being injured.
Cleveland Police say they "understand this will have caused alarm, shock and distress to the children and staff who were present - and to parents and carers - but we would reassure them police will remain on scene for the time being and that a thorough investigation is underway."
