Hartlepool Sack Manager After FA Cup Exit

After their shock exit from the FA Cup last night, Hartlepool have sacked manager Paul Murray.

He had only been in the job for just over a month.

The Football League's bottom side lost 2-1 at home to seventh-tier Blyth Spartans.

Assistant manager Willie Donachie has also left, with veteran defender Sam Collins placed in temporary charge.

A statement on the club's official website, www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk, read: “Hartlepool United can announce that manager Paul Murray and assistant manager Willie Donachie have been released from their contracts.

“Sam Collins has been placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs.

“The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
