GCSE results day for Teesside pupils
Many students are now considering their next steps
GCSE students across Teesside and North Yorkshire are picking up their results today.
Many will be considering their next steps, which can include going to sixth form or college.
Zoe Lewis, Principal of Middlesbrough College, said: "I think we've got 1,000 students going off to university this year but we're literally a college for everybody. Our Ofsted last year we were so proud of our apprenticeships being in the top five percent in the country.
"We've got courses in every possible career option whether you're doing an academic route, vocational route, whether you want a work placement or whether you're coming back and re-training.
"The support and commitment from the staff shines through. It's a really respectful and positive environment where people can thrive and often it's a fresh start as well for people, who maybe didn't enjoy school for whatever reason. They can come here and find who they are as young people.
"I think if you go into any organisation and you talk to staff members at any level, you'll see that people's careers go in all sorts of ways. Success doesn't always just come from high grades, it comes from your hardwork, your communication and your commitment. There's a lot of opportunities out there."
