Police have named the motorcyclist who died in a crash near Crook earlier this week.

Dad-of-four Norman Findlay, 55, from Crook, was an engineer for a firm based on Tyneside.

Norman's bike left the road and crashed as he travelled home from work on the A689 near Crook on Tuesday afternoon (July 19).

A tribute from his family, issued through their police liaison officer, said: “Norman was a loving father to Geoff, Scott, Adam and Amy.

“Former husband of 27 years to Jan, he was also the loving partner of Pauline and a father figure to her daughter and son, Sam and Ross.

“His loss is devastating to all who knew him, and life without Norman will never be the same again.”

An inquest is expected to open early next week.
