Several homes have been evacuated
Homes in Thornaby have been evacuated following a fire.
Crews were called out to a property on Langley Avenue just after 4 o'clock this morning.
Emergency services tell us, at this time, it is not believed anyone is injured or trapped within any of the affected houses.
Cleveland Police issued this information:
Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire in Thornaby.
The fire is believed to have started in a property in Langley Avenue shortly after 4am today (Monday 20 May 2024).
The residents from a number of houses in the street have been evacuated, a cordon is in place and Langley Avenue and Mansfield Avenue are closed at both ends.
At this time, it is not believed anyone is injured or trapped within any of the affected houses.
Members of the public are urged to avoid the area and nearby residents are asked to keep their windows closed to avoid smoke entering their homes.
