E-Fit Released in Relation to Attempted Robbery in Thornaby

Police are releasing an E-fit in an attempt to trace a man in connection with an attempted robbery which took place at around 2:30am on Wednesday 27th January on the bridge over the A66 on Thornaby Road, Thornaby.

A 20-year-old woman was walking over the bridge when she was grabbed from behind by a man who demanded her mobile phone.

The victim didn’t hand over the phone and ran away. She suffered minor bruising and did not receive medical treatment.

The suspect is described as around a white male, around 22 years old, 5 ft 10” tall, of skinny build with light eyebrows and a pale complexion. He made off in an unknown direction.

It is believed the man was with two other males who were stood in the area at the time of the incident. They were wearing tracksuits. Police would like to speak with these males as they may be able to assist with enquiries.
