For the first time ever, the Durham Book Festival is going completely virtual - to keep to social distancing guidelines.

They'll be streaming a mixture of pre-recorded and live events - with artists like Richard Osman, Brit Bennett, Ian Rankin and many more.

Headline Speaker: Richard Osman

Speaking to festival organiser Rebecca Wilkie, she reveals that while there were challenges involved in putting the entire festival online, some of the benefits include being able to reach out to more international guests and speakers - as geography was no longer a barrier.

She tells us that also goes for the audience - with viewers being able to log in from anywhere they like!

Another benefit Rebecca explained, is disability access and inclusion was less of an issue with the festival events being held virtually - and that's something the team is hoping to keep in mind in future years, even when the festival can get back into Durham City.

You can find out more about the festival, and how to listen, watch and attend events by visiting their website.

All the events will be available to stream until the end of October.
