Two drugs warrants executed over the weekend have resulted in the seizure of suspected drugs and four arrests in Middlesbrough.

The warrants were carried out by Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team under Project Adder, which gives additional funding to authorities in Middlesbrough to tackle drug misuse.

Officers raided a property on Oliver Street on Friday evening, where suspected cocaine and heroin was recovered along with drugs paraphernalia including scales, mobile phones and cash.

Four people were located in the property; two men aged 25 and 60 and two women aged 34 and 36. All were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and all were released under investigation, whilst enquiries continue. In addition to this, the four people were issued with COVID fines due to breaching regulations.

Officers attended a second property on Phoenix Park in Hemlington on Saturday morning, 13th March.

Suspected cannabis was seized and a 45-year-old man was reported for summons for suspected drugs offences.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhoods Chief Inspector Daryll Tomlinson said: “We will always try to act on information that we receive from members of the public regarding drugs activity in Middlesbrough. These are the issues which affect our communities, and we are listening to their concerns. With the additional help of the Project Adder funding, we will do as much as we possibly can to tackle and disrupt the supply of illegal drugs on the streets of Middlesbrough.”

Anyone with information regarding drugs activity in their local area is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
