Drugs and weapons seized following a stop and search in Billingham

A 29-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman are under investigation

Police in Billingham have seized drugs and weapons following a routine stop and search.

At around 7:15pm yesterday (Wednesday 20th January), Stockton Neighbourhood Officers sighted a vehicle reportedly driving at excess speed.

Officers stopped and searched the vehicle and seized class A drugs and cash. The 29-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

In connection with the arrest, officers then searched a property on Wollaton Road in Billingham where suspected class A drugs, drugs paraphernalia, an air weapon and three samurai swords were seized from the address.

A woman, who is also 29, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Both the man and woman have been released pending further enquiries.
