Hundreds of people have gathered for the funeral of a legendary North East biker this afternoon.

Jungle, formerly known as George Palmer, died just days after his 65th birthday.

He used to be the chief of Darlington Hell’s Angels and was known for his kind heart, championing the underdog and having legendary parties.

Since his death thousands have paid tribute to him on social media and a Facebook page set up to share memories of his has reached over 2,700 likes.

On the page he is described as: ‘Our Daddy...a besotted Grandad, loving brother, Uncle, 'Angel' & loyal friend’

Beryl Hankin, from the Guru Boutique, knew Jungle for more than forty years.

She said:

“People in Darlington won’t have seen anything like this before because Jungle was widely known and widely loved. I really feel for his family. He’s got such a loving family, he’s got many loved ones, and he’s loved by everyone. People are just destroyed really because we didn’t want to lose him.”

“Darlington has lost a true legend. He’s a true Darlington person. The things people have said to me in the shop are nice guy, wonderful man, great fella, kind man… just everybody of all ages have great memories of him.”
