Artists from Darlington and County Durham are coming together to raise funds for emergency relief in Gaza.

The concert, which will take place at the Forum Music Centre in Darlington this Thursday (15th May), features the eclectic Bubamara, a four piece folk exotica band who conjure the essence of the Mediterranean and beyond, supported by singer songwriter Chris Milner – Journeyman, rooted in his experience of life and travels, and an ensemble of guests collaborating to create the essence of the middle east.

The event has been organised to support the Amos Trust, a creative human rights charity. Organiser, Martin Wood, previously volunteered with the charity, helping to rebuild a home demolished by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank in 2022.

He said: “I am very grateful to the artists for supporting the Amos Trust’s emergency relief work in Gaza and the West Bank. The Israeli bombardment has killed in the region of 60,000 people, injured 115,000, and destroyed something like three-quarters of the infrastructure, including homes, schools, hospitals and places of work. Over the last month, no commercial or humanitarian supplies have entered Gaza. More than 2.1 million people continue to be trapped, bombed and starved.

“I hope the people of the North East will show their support for these people by buying a ticket for the Gig for Gaza or making a donation to the Amos Trust.”

Fairtrade items from Palestine will also be on sale during the concert.

Tickets information can be found on the Forum website.
