The dad of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence has visited Parliament today in a bid to get more power for the families of missing people.

Peter Lawrence wants to improve the rights of those who find themselves in the situation of having a loved-one missing.

It comes almost seven years since the university chef disappeared in the Heworth area of York on March 18th 2009.

Four people who were arrested and bailed in connection to Claudia's disappearance have had their files referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Now her father wants to see relatives of people missing for more than three months granted 'guardianship' over financial and legal matters on their behalf.

The Government consulted on the matter last year, and MPs have put forward questions at Justice Questions next week.
