It’s claimed people with eating disorders aren’t being treated as a priority until they lose even more weight.

That is what a Redcar woman has told TFM.

Emma Liddle has battled with anorexia for 22 years, she was told she had depression when she went to doctors.

She said: “I lost more weight and then I did get into outpatient treatment, but now that centre’s closed in Redcar. I've been on a waiting list now for two years to get some more help.”

The 35-year-old added: “People in the medical profession need to be more aware of the early signs that something’s wrong.”

The charity B-eat say eating disorders cost the UK £15billion and say it needs to be identified earlier.
