Citizens Advice say they are there to help if you end up regretting your Black Friday purchases.

They are offering support and guidance to people who may already be struggling, particularly as we are heading into the festive period.

Rhys Stephens is from the money advice team at Stockton Citizens Advice and said: "They usually get kind of caught up in the deals that come through and it's very easy to see how that happens. A lot of the time people come to us after Black Friday or even after Christmas and say 'actually, I've made some purchases I can't afford and I'm struggling to pay that back.'

"I think it's really important as well just to have a review of Christmas. It's really difficult for everybody at the moment so do you need to spend as much as you have been or would previously spend? It's worth having a chat with friends and family and saying 'well actually, do we need to go all out this year? Do we need to get everybody a really expensive gift or is it just about being together at Christmas?'

"We normally get people who come in after Christmas having spent it on a credit card or getting something on hire purchase or something like that. A lot of people when you're asking them 'how have you got into this situation?' It's because 'oh, I felt the pressure over Christmas. I felt like I needed to get the kids something. I felt like I needed to get them something on par with the other children.'"
