Police in Middlesbrough located two cannabis farms estimated to be worth over £1million in total as part of Operation Endeavour, a month-long Force-wide operation to tackle serious and organised crime.
Neighbourhood officers located a farm at a property on Coltman Street after reports of a strong smell of cannabis on Tuesday 25th May.
After entering the property, officers found cannabis believed to be worth around £400,000.
On Monday evening, 24th May, response and neighbourhood officers were called to a property on Borough Road, where they found an established cannabis farm over three floors, believed to be worth around £750,000.
No arrests have been made at this time, however, enquiries are ongoing.
Neighbourhood Sergeant John Sproson said:
“We are extremely pleased to have located these cannabis farms and stopped these drugs from potentially getting onto the streets of Middlesbrough.
“Organised criminal gangs often use properties like these to exploit people into growing these farms for their own financial gain, and I am pleased that the revenue has also been stopped from being added to their criminal gains.
“Let this stand as a warning to anyone who thinks that Middlesbrough is the place to come to grow and sell drugs. It won’t be tolerated and we are proactively targeting those involved in drugs activity.”
Anyone who may have information regarding drugs activity in their local area is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
