Boro vs Everton Speedo Dash
At half time in the December 1st Middlesbrough v Everton Capital One Cup game, 5 brave Boro souls will challenge Everton's renowned fan 'Speedo Mick' and his team to a chilly speedo dash around the Riverside Stadium pitch in front of 33,000 fans and national TV cameras.
Born off the back of Michael Cullen's (aka Speedo Mick) charity fundraising efforts where he attends Everton games in nothing more than blue speedos - the red trunked Boro fans streak (almost) to secure the first ever football Speedo Dash title - clad in red speedos of course.
5 runners will represent each team. The Dash will take the form of a relay race on the surrounds of the pitch, with runners running anti-clockwise behind corner flags and goals.
Each runner will dash one length/width of the pitch in-turn passing a baton to the next teammate, with runner 5 finishing the race at the halfway line at the tunnel entrance.
Both teams have secured sponsorship for respective charities - Speedo Mick continues his fundraising for a Merseyside Hospice, the Middlesbrough runners are raising funds for the MFC Foundation.
Local companies have made a £500 donation to have their logos sensitively attached to the cap and trunks of each runner.
Best of all, 33,000 fans are expected to fully embrace the fun event as they cheer on their team of runners as the action hots up in the live game interval! The good news for the runners is that the current near freezing temperatures look set to give way for slightly warmer weather come kick off time.
