Detectives are appealing for information from the public after an armed robbery at the post office on Rimswell Parade in Stockton today.

Officers were called at around 3pm to reports that four people with their faces covered entered the post office and took a substantial amount of money before leaving in a car – possibly a silver or grey Vauxhall Zafira. Witnesses say that the men had a bladed weapon, although reports are still being gathered by detectives.

Staff were left shaken but unhurt during the incident and officers are now calling on the public for help with an information they may have on the incident. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or who may have seen a Zafira in the immediate area at the time, possibly driving at speed or erratically.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
