Armed police called to Brambles Farm in Middlesbrough

Armed police were called to Brandon Road just before 7am this morning after reports of an assault on a man.

Armed police were called to the Thorntree and Brambles Farm areas of Middlesbrough this morning after reports of an assault on a man.

Brandon Road was cordened off to keep the public safe and to allow enquiries to take place. This has now been lifted.

The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment to leg injury which is not believed to be life threatening.

Police say they can't confirm that the weapon used in the assault was a crossbow despite a number of reports being made by local residents.

Officers were stood down at 9:40am.
