Appeal after Collision Involving Patient Transport Ambulance

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on Ladgate Lane in Middlesbrough.

The collision happened around 2:40am this morning, Tuesday 2nd July, involving a Peugeot 208 which was reported to have collided with pedestrian barriers before then colliding with a patient transport ambulance.

A 62-year-old man, a passenger in the patient transport ambulance, suffered fractured ribs and was taken to James Cook University Hospital. Another man, a 44-year-old man also travelling in the ambulance, suffered a wound to his knee and was also taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Peugeot 208, a 45-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
