80-year-old woman robbed in Eaglescliffe

Police are investigating after an 80-year-old woman was robbed in Eaglescliffe.

The woman was sat at the bus stop on Yarm Road, near to the Sunnyside Hotel, at around 4.40pm on on Saturday (May 28) when a man approached her.

The man asked her for the time and then snatched her handbag and made off towards Yarm on a push bike.

The handbag contained cash and the victim’s bank card.

It is believed the suspect is aged in his 30s, of average build and medium height with stubble and short, dark hair. He was wearing smart, dark clothing.

The victim was left shaken following the incident but was uninjured.
