Our favourite spots for a romantic picnic...
Great picnic spots make great dates
Summer is finally here which can only mean it’s time for BBQs, beer gardens, trips to the seaside and a date favourite of ours, picnics!
It’s time to get out and about and spend some quality time in the region's beauty spots.
Here are TFM Dating’s favourite places...
Hardwick Park
Hardwick Park is a country park with a difference, a Visit England accredited attraction, and a great place to visit at any time of the year. Stroll through the historic parkland admiring the natural beauty of the lake, woodland and wildlife before setting up a picnic in the grounds.
Marsden Bay, South Tyneside
The Marsden Grotto set in the foot of the cliffs has spectacular views. It's also a good spot to enjoy a drink and get to know one another.
Causey Arch and Picnic Area
This secluded location is perfect for a romantic picnic. Lay out a blanket and admire the view of the world’s oldest surviving single arch railway bridge.
Durham University Botanic Garden
Don't miss all that the Botanic Garden has to offer, attractions that appeal to young and old alike. Wander through the Alpine Garden, Winter Garden, Bamboo Grove and our recently developed Woodland Garden and wild flower meadow. With many places to just sit and muse, view the Modern Art or watch the bees in action in their hive.
Raby Castle, Staindrop, County Durham
What better back drop to your sandwiches than the magnificent backdrop of Raby Castle which dates back to the 11th Century. The castle is well worth a visit, with a 200 acre deer park, Ornamental Walled Garden and if you’re taking the children along keep them entertained in the woodland adventure playground.
Wherever you go, pack some yummy food, maybe some fizz to make it extra special – as well as sunscreen and a game – then let the sparks fly.
