The Overtones pay emotional tribute to their late bandmate Timmy Matley
He sadly passed away earlier this month
The Overtones singer Timmy Matley has been laid to rest after he lost his battle with skin cancer at the age of just 36 earlier this month.
Timmy's family and close friends attended the service on Friday 20th April at a church in Kilcully, Cork, Ireland.
After the ceremony, in which Timmy's bandmate Lachie Chapman performed, the remaining members of The Overtones posted a heartbreaking tribute to their friend.
Taking to the band's Instagram account, the photo showed five shots of Guinness, with the caption, 'To our brother...💚'. sic
Fans were quick to comment on the photo to pay their respects to Timmy. One user wrote, 'So very sad and gone way too soon. Thinking of you and his family at this very difficult time', with another adding, 'He will forever be in all our hearts, and ever time we hear him singing we will feel like he is still with us ❤️❤️❤️. sic
A third then added, 'Sending love. I keep filling up when I listen to your music but also thinking what a beautiful life he lead and will be living in the next life. Hope you’re all ok ❤️'. sic
The sad news of Timmy's death was confirmed on Wednesday 11th April by his fellow band mates.
The statement read, 'It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away. We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us. We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x'. sic
The band also revealed they have now postponed two of their shows that were due to take place later this month.
The tweet read, 'A message from Overtones HQ. The Overtones have postponed their performances at Potters on April 22nd and Bedworth on April 28th. The boys will be in touch with you all soon and have asked us to thank you all for your condolences and understanding.' sic
