Super Mario, Doom and Tetris are first-inductees into video game Hall Of Fame

All six inductees have been announced

Super Mario, Doom and Tetris are among the first titles to be inducted into World Video Game Hall Of Fame.

Joining them in the prestigious group are games such as Pong, Pac-Man, Tetris, Super Mario Bros, Doom, World Of Warcraft.

The Strong Museum in Rochester, New York, established the elite group of video game titles after success with its National Toy Hall Of Fame collection.

Back in April the museum announced the first 15 games nominated for induction, including titles such as Sonic The Hedgehog, Pokemon and Angry Birds.

However the six deemed most influential and important, have earned a permanent place in the collection.

The final honourees were chosen by an international panel of “journalists, scholars, and other video game experts”.
