He racks up quarter of a million followers in 24 hours
Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio has joined image sharing social networking site Instagram!
However, unlike fellow celebs who share self-indulgent selfies, ‘inspiring’ quotes or envy-inducing photos of their luxury lifestyle, Leonardo has been using Instagram for much more important means.
Yes, the resplendently beardy actor and environmentalist has shared six photos so far from his visit to the UN General Assembly for the Climate Summit 2014.
Images shared include Barack Obama’s speech, pics of Leo with Vice President Gore and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the actor on a climate march for 100% renewable energy. Respect.
Such is his commitment to saving the planet, Leonardo owns two electric cars, has solar panels installed at his house and regularly speaks out on environmental issues.
In 2010 alone he donated $1million to the Wildlife Conservation Society and a further $1million to the relief efforts following the Haiti earthquake.
He’s also a member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund and an activist for gay rights.
