Star Wars to get first ever digital HD release
All six films will be available in HD
All six existing Star Wars films will be released digitally for the first time later this week.
The iconic sci-fi franchise will be available in Digital HD worldwide this Friday, as confirmed by Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm yesterday (6th April).
Fans will be able to buy the films individually or as a complete collection, with each movie containing a host of bonus features.
“We’re thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the Star Wars saga on their digital devices whererver they go,” said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
“These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we’ve created some very special bonus material which delves into the saga’s rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary Star Wars artists – the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life.”
A complete list of the bonus features attached to the digital movies is available on the Star Wars website.
The Digital HD release of existing Star Wars movies, precedes the franchise’s highly anticipated seventh instalment, ‘The Force Awakens’ which is directed by JJ Abrams and hits cinemas on 18th December 2015.
