Tony Hadley's replacement in Spandau Ballet has given his first TV interview
Tony Hadley left a year ago
It's been over a year since Spandau Ballet's original frontman, Tony Hadley, officially left the 80s pop group, and after unveiling the replacement back in June, Ross William Wild has given his first TV interview on This Morning today (22nd August).
During the interview, Ross William Wild was asked about the band's new 'energetic' dynamic. Ross who is just 30-years-old, and actually pre-dates one of the band's biggest hits, 'Gold', said, while it is 'intimidating', he knows, "They've got a legacy and it's a responsibility of mine to pay homage to that legacy, but also to do it my own way."
The rest of the 'True' band, who also appeared on the show, spoke about the chemistry they have with their new lead singer, saying that he made them "feel younger" with Gary Kemp saying, "Not only has he got the chops and he's got his individual voice, but it's really important that we found someone that actually fits in with the band... There's some kind of chemistry there."
Ross, who previously worked as a singer and actor and even impersonated the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, officially joined the group when they appeared on stage at London's Subterania club on the 6th June. At the time of Ross's announcement, fans were very excited with many taking to Twitter to congratulate the new addition, saying, 'Oh my! What amazing news. Congratulations, can't stop, off to get tickets 😀😀😀'.
And, '@RossWilliamWild want to wish you the best of luck as the new @SpandauBallet lead singer, it looks like you may have to win a few people over, I just hope you’re given a decent chance, all the best mate 👍'.
Spandau Ballet's debut single was 'To Cut a Long Story Short' which reached Number 5 in the UK in the early 80s, and was the start of several Top 10 hits. The band's only Number 1 was 'True', released in 1983 which was followed by 'Gold', which reached number 2.

The band then split in the 90s following arguments over money. They reformed back in 2009, however last year lead singer Tony Hadley revealed he would be leaving. Ross William Wild was then announced as the replacement lead singer in June 2018.
