Sandra Bullock Beats Jennifer Lawrence To Rich List Number One
Thanks to the huge pull of Gravity
Sandra Bullock has topped Forbes Magazine’s countdown of the highest earning actresses of 2014.
According to the US business publication, 50-year-old Sandra earned an estimated $51million (£30.2million) between June 2013 and June 2014largely thanks to the huge pull of box office smash Gravity.
The multi-award winning and critically acclaimed movie brought in $716m (£425m) in global box office when it was released last autumn.
In second place is Jennifer Lawrence with reported earnings of $34m (£20m) from her roles in American Hustle and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Although movie roles in smaller budgeted comedies like We’re The Millers and Horrible Bosses didn’t earn her mega bucks, Jennifer Aniston is third on the list with $31m (£18.4m) thanks to her various endorsement deals.
Forbes calculates the earnings from information gained from “agents, producers, lawyers and other in-the-know folks” over the 12-month period. The figures don’t include taxes, agent fees or “the other costs of being a celebrity.”
Although the Top 10 women brought home an estimated $216m (£128m) between them, that figure is almost half of the $419m (£249m) that the Top 10 male actors brought home.
Back in July it was revealed that Iron Man himself Robert Downey Jr. topped the list with predicted earnings of $75m (£44m).
The Forbes Top 10 earning actresses are as follows:
