The first look at Prince Louis's christening robe has been released this afternoon, showing the young Prince wearing a handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by Angela Kelly who is dressmaker to The Queen.
In the video released by Kensington Palace on Twitter, guests can be seen arriving at St James's Palace for the christening of Prince Louis which will be performed by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.
Earlier today it was revealed who would be the godparents of the young Prince who was born on the 23rd April 2018. The Royal website confirmed the chosen godparents saying, 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked the following people to be godparents to Prince Louis, all of whom are friends or family of Their Royal Highnesses:
- Mr. Nicholas van Cutsem
- Mr. Guy Pelly
- Mr. Harry Aubrey-Fletcher
- The Lady Laura Meade
- Mrs. Robert Carter
- Miss Lucy Middleton
However, two prominent figures in the Royal family, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, will not be attending the christening. It is believed the decision was made some time ago with the Queen that she would not be attending the christening due to her diary being too full.
After the service, the guests will be invited to a private tea where they will be served the christening cake, originally a tier from the Duke and Duchess's wedding cake, which was designed by Fiona Cairns, and made from 17 individual fruit cakes and had eight tiers. There were up to 900 individually iced flowers and leaves of 17 different varieties decorated on the cake.
Back in September 2017 The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first announced they were expecting their third child.
The Duchess was admitted to the Lindo Wing in April and just a few hours after Prince Louis was born he made his first public appearance on the steps of the Lindo Wing. See our gallery below.
