With the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing fast approaching, rumours about which celebrities could be taking part are rife. One celebrity name doing the rounds ahead of the new series is former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan, but it sounds like she isn't too keen on the idea.

Dismissing the rumours that she's taking part in the show, Michelle told Digital Spy it's not something she'd like to do at this moment in time.

The actress told the publication, "I've seen the story, saying that Mark's not letting me do it. To be fair, again, you can't say 'never' to these things, because if it ever comes around, people will be like, 'Oh? You said you'd never do it.' But it's something that I wouldn't want to do now."

Rumours about Michelle's potential appearance on the popular dancing show first started way back in March.

According to the Daily Star, a show insider said, “Everyone knows that having Michelle Keegan out on the Strictly dance floor would be ratings gold."

They then added, “Everyone behind the scenes thinks she would set the dance floor alight. It’s now a matter of convincing her to sign up."

The source continued to reveal that bosses of the show will do what it takes to get Michelle on the show, with money being no concern. They added, "That’s a demographic that they are desperate to attract to the show and something they are willing to break the bank for."

However, it looks like 2018 won't be the year we get to see Michelle strut her stuff on the dance floor

Despite this, fans will get to see Michelle back on their TV screens very soon. The actress is returning as Georgie Lane in hit BBC show Our Girl.

Fans of the show were left devastated last year when Georgie's on-screen partner Elvis Harte was killed during Section 2's final mission Kabul. With some fans thinking she could be pregnant with Elvis' baby after the pair spent the night together the day before he was killed, fans are every excited for the new series.
