Lily Allen: 'I Wish My Cheryl Cole Feud Hadn’t Happened'
She also regrets her Rita Ora and Cara Delavigne diss
Lily Allen says she regrets being involved in an infamous feud with Cheryl Cole.
The fallout started way back in 2007 when Cheryl labelled Lily a “chick with a d*”, which prompted Lily to write on Myspace: “I must say taking your clothes off, doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying, your mother must be so proud, stupid b**."
Five years later, Lily reignited the feud by referencing Cheryl’s conviction for assault in 2003 on Twitter. Cheryl then swiftly unfollowed Lily.
!Speaking exclusively to Q Magazine, a reflective Lily said: “I wish the whole Cheryl Cole thing hadn’t happened. I like her. She’s good on X Factor, she’s pretty, she’s got balls. I like women who do well.”
Clearly finding the interview a therapeutic experience, Lily also said she regrets singing she “doesn’t give a f*** about” Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne on ‘Sheezus’ album track ‘Insincerely Yours.’
“In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have done that,” Lily told Q. “I know Cara and I keep meaning to write to her and to Rita to say ‘FYI, this song’s about to come out and I’m really sorry but it’s what you represent and not who you are as a person’.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Lily gave an insight into how she got together with her husband Sam Cooper.
“Even though I’ve known him for a long time, he sort of introduced me to myself. He forced me to face reality,” Lily continued.
“Instead of joining the party and drinking from the free bar, he said ‘I think I love you and I want us to have a future together, but I can’t do this because it’s really self-destructive and these guys are c****, they’re not your friends. Why not come and have a life with me?’
“And thank god I did, because it’s the first time in my life where I feel like if I’ve had a shit day, I know exactly who to call: my soul mate. I’ve never, ever felt as stable as I do now.”
This month’s print and digital edition of Q Magazine is on sale from today (29th April).
