Kanye West Asks Wheelchair User To Get Up and Dance
He has a major misunderstanding at his Sydney concert
Kanye West was involved in a highly unfortunate misunderstanding at his gig in Sydney last Friday night (12th September).
The divisive rapper halted his show at the Qantas Credit Union Arena to demand the entire 13,000 capacity crowd to get up and dance.
He told them: “I can't do this show until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and s**t.”
Kanye went on to single out two people in the audience who hadn’t stood up – only to realise after an elongated pause they both had disabilities.
After the first fan waved a prosthetic limb at him, Kanye moved onto another fan that appeared to remain seated.
With the audience booing, Kanye said “This is the longest I've had to wait to do a song, it's unbelievable,” before his security discovered the person was in a wheelchair.
“He is in a wheelchair? It's fine!,” Kanye said before continuing his song. You can watch the incident here:
Peter Galbriath, who uploaded the footage to YouTube, said:"Kanye asks everyone to stand up, someone doesn't. Kanye asks them to stand up, they're in a wheelchair. Misunderstanding."
Kanye West wraps up the Australian leg of his Yeezus Tour at Brisbane Entertainment Centre tonight (15th September).
