Jodie Foster Marries Girlfriend Alexandra Hedison
The secret ceremony took place over the Easter weekend
American actress Jodie Foster has married her girlfriend Alexandra Hedison.
The Silence of the Lambs star’s representative confirmed that the secret ceremony took place over the Easter weekend just over a year after they started dating.
51-year-old Jodie first publicly revealed she was gay during her Cecil B. DeMille Award acceptance speech at the Golden Globe Awards in 2013.
She said at the time: "I already did my coming out about 1,000 years ago back in the stone age, those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers, and then gradually and proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met."
Jodie also thanked her partner of 15 years, Cydney Bernard, who she split with in 2008, calling her "my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life".
Ms Hedison, a 44-year-old photographer, director and actress, previously dated US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres for three years in the early noughties.
It’s currently unclear exactly where the couple got married, although their home of California is one of 17 US States where gay marriage is legal.
