A woman has been assaulted and threatened on a train in Tayside.

She was travelling between Perth and Montrose last month when she was targeted by a man thought to be in his sixties.

British Transport Police believe the incident happened between 8.30pm and 10.30pm on September 25.

A BTP spokesperson said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an assault took place on board a train between Perth railway station and Montrose railway station.

“On Wednesday 25 September between 8:30pm and 10:30pm a man physically assaulted a woman and threatened her with violence before grabbing her clothing.

“The man is described as white, in his sixties, and of a slim build.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 682 of 25 September.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
