More than ten thousand people have signed a petition against Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake's plans to open a sports bar in St Andrews.

If approved by Fife council, it would see the town's New Picture House turned into a premium sports bar and entertainment gastro pub called T-Squared Social.

The superstar duo are shareholders in Nexus Luxury Collection, the global estate agency behind the plans.

It is expected the venue will have golf simulators, darts and duckpin bowling and will screen sporting events.

As well as undergoing extensive renovation, it has been reported the venue would have its three cinema screens reduced to just one.

Ash Johann Curry-Machado is President of St Andrew's Film Society and started the petition opposing the plans.

In an interview with us he explained:

'Even though there will still be a single screen that they have assured us will still be running, we are obviously very concerned about what that would realistically mean in terms of operating as a cinema."

In his petition, he argues that the New Picture House is a 'cherished and historic' cultural landmark for the Fife town.

We have approached Nexus Luxury Collection for a response.
