Police investigating after 24 live lobsters disappeared from a storage place at a harbour have said a teenager has been detected in connection with the incident.

The lobsters, which had been caught by a local fisherman, vanished from an underwater storage keep from a secured pontoon at the outer harbour in Arbroath, Angus.

Officers said the crustaceans "did not stage a break-out" as they appealed for information about the incident.

The lobsters disappeared between 5pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

On Friday, police in Tayside said: "This has now been detected, and a 15-year-old boy is to be reported to the youth justice assessor.

"Thank-you to everyone who shared our appeal, your help is appreciated."
