A 16-year-old girl has been arrested following a police chase and reports of a stolen van.

Officers were called to the A9 at Pitlochry around 9.05am today following the theft.

A chase ensued, and the van was traced to the B9150 near Ralia where it crashed.

The girl, who was a passenger, was taken into custody – work is on-going to trace the driver.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Shortly after 9.05am on Tuesday, 24 September 2024, police were called to the A9 at Pitlochry following a report of a van having been stolen.

"Following a police pursuit, the vehicle was traced to the B9150, near Ralia, Newtonmore, where it had crashed.

“A 16-year-old female passenger was injured and has been arrested. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the van.

"The B9150 has now re-opened."
